Rust Removal Process of Seamless Steel Pipe

Date:2022-05-25View:594Tags:Seamless Steel Pipe, Rust Removal Process

As we all know, seamless steel pipe has better corrosion resistance, is a kind of pipeline resistant to weak acid substances such as steam, and is widely used in our daily life. However, if the seamless steel pipe is directly placed in a strong alkali or strong acid environment, corrosion will also occur. Therefore, in order to avoid not affecting the use in the later period, it is necessary to do anticorrosion work in advance and maintain it well, so that it can be reasonably applied in production and life.

What are the common rust removal processes for seamless steel pipes?

1. Cleaning

Solvents and emulsions are used to clean steel surfaces to remove oil, grease, dust, lubricants and similar organics. However, it cannot remove rust, rust, flux, etc. from the steel surface. Therefore, it is only used as an aid in defensive operations.

2. Pickling

Typically, chemical cleaning and electrolysis are used for pickling treatments. Pipe anticorrosion is simply chemical pickling to remove scale, rust and old coatings, and can sometimes be used as a post-treatment after sandblasting and rust removal. Although chemical cleaning can achieve a certain level of cleanliness and roughness, its anchor pattern is shallow and prone to contamination of the surrounding environment.

3. Tool rust removal

Mainly use tools such as wire brushes to grind the surface of steel, which can remove loose or raised oxide scale, rust, welding slag, etc. The rust removal of manual tools can reach Sa2 level, and the rust removal of power tools can reach Sa3 level. If the steel surface is adhered to a firm scale of iron oxide, the rust removal effect of the tools is not ideal, and the anchor pattern depth required for anti-corrosion construction cannot be achieved.

4. Spray rust removal

Jet derusting is a high-speed motor, which drives the jet blades to rotate at high speed, so steel balls, steel sand, wire fragments, minerals and other abrasives will be sprayed on the surface of the seamless steel pipe under the strong centrifugal force of the motor, not only can be completely removed Oxides, rust and dirt, as well as seamless steel pipes, can achieve the desired uniform roughness under the action of abrasive impact and friction.

After spray rust removal, not only can the physical adsorption of the surface of the seamless steel pipe be enlarged, but also the mechanical adhesion of the anti-corrosion layer to the surface of the pipe can be enhanced. Therefore, jet descaling is an ideal method for eliminating corrosion in pipes. Generally, shot peening is mainly used for inner surface treatment of pipes, and shot peening is mainly used for outer surface treatment of seamless steel pipes.
